High School Football players have never had more opportunities
to "get noticed" and "get recruited" as they do today. Best of all, many of these opportunities are
free or inexpensive, and they're located close by.
One type of opportunity is the one-day "camp", which
offers position-specific instruction on football
techniques and fundamentals - taught by a
combination of High School and College coaches -
some with NFL playing experience.
Built in to this instructional
format is a recruiting element, as players get to
showcase their skills, and college coaches get to see
players perform right in front of them.
This type of event has exploded in recent years, and
can be found in many parts of the country.
Some are conducted on a regional basis, while others
are national in their scope. Football players in
New Jersey and surrounding
states can look to the Let 'Em Play organization for
this type of experience,
and more. Let 'Em Play operates
events throughout the
year, starting with
weekly "practice"
sessions at the
Branchburg sports
complex in Branchburg,
New Jersey and
culminating in early
June with a one-day "camp".
The
Let 'Em Play June camp features
position coaches from
top college programs
conducting individual
technique drills on the
field, and also include
break out sessions
designed to reinforce
the position technique
through video, board
work and/or walk through
demonstrations. Also
included is a "mini" college fair, player evaluations,
and presentations on
academic and sports
psychology topics from
some of the countries
most respected academic
counselors and sports
psychologists.
This year's Let 'Em Play camp will be held on
June 12th at Morris Catholic H.S. in Denville, New Jersey.
